MODERN

LYRICAL

CONTEMPORARY

Modern/Contemporary dance will explore elements from Limon, Horton and Graham techniques, as well as current contemporary and release forms. This class will challenge the dancer's range of dynamics and self-expression. Students will learn improvisation, floor work, inversions and partnering skills while exploring concepts such as weight, energy, breath. Personal style and creativity is highly encouraged.

Lyrical/Contemporary is the fusion of ballet and jazz technique. It is an expressive form of dance that requires dancers to connect deeply to their emotions in order to emote the soul of the choreography. Dancers require a sense of maturity to interpret the music or words of the song through movement.
