MODERN

LYRICAL

CONTEMPORARY

Modern/Contemporary dance explores a range of techniques and movement styles, including Limon, Horton, Graham, contemporary and release-based forms. Dancers are challenged to explore dynamics, musicality and self-expression while developing skills in improvisation, floor work, inversions and partnering.

Through concepts such as weight, energy and breath, dancers learn to move with greater freedom, intention and awareness. Creativity and individual style are strongly encouraged as dancers discover their own voice through movement.

Lyrical/Contemporary blends elements of ballet and jazz technique into an expressive and emotionally connected style. Dancers explore storytelling through movement, developing the ability to interpret music, lyrics and choreography with depth and authenticity. This style encourages dancers to connect technique with emotion, musicality and personal expression.
